HPT's library includes over 7,000 volumes. Its initial holdings were created by taking over the books from the PTT Club library. However, the holdings are permanently being expanded through purchase. One part of the holdings is strictly professional, thus "covering" the museum collections, while the other part is more general. Philatelic literature constitutes a significant unit: journals, manuals, stamp catalogues, philatelic exhibitions' catalogues, and books treating various postal and philatelic issues. The library has no reading room, so that it is not accessible to wider public.
