In 1877, when the Museum of Slavonia was established, began the collection of items of historic importance, which makes the Historic Department one among the oldest. Today, it includes the total of 10 collections, with 14,450 items that have been entered into the inventory, and another about 2,000 that are yet to be entered.

1. The Documentary Collection includes:

nobility medallions (18th-19th c.), 18th. c. guild privileges, guild books, memorials and memory-books, various manuscripts, WW II documents, guild charters, honorary and faculty diplomas.

2. The Cartographic Collection includes:

review(18th-20th c.) geographic maps, topographic maps, land registry maps, city maps, architectural designs and atlases.

3. The Graphic Collection includes:

city panoramas (17th-20th c.), copperplates, litographs and oleographs presenting historic personalities and events (17th-20th c.), graphic maps, postcards, and greeting cards.

4. The Photograph Collection includes:

portraits of Osijek's families and citizens (ferrotypes and photographs); various motifs' photographs (military, school, civil), glass negatives from the first half of the 20th c., contemporary negatives and slides.

5. The Collection of Uniforms includes:

17th and 18th c. helmets, armours, and gloves; 19th and 20th c. military uniforms; 19th c. city constables' uniforms.

6. The Collection of Weapons includes:

Cold steel (yataghans, sabres, halberds, maces and axes with horn blades), fire-arms (rifles, short rifles, guns, and revolvers), artillery weapons.

7. The Collection of Flags includes:

19th c. guild flags, various associations' flags, city guards flags, national flags.

8. The Collection of Sculptures and Stone-Made Monuments includes:

Stone inscriptions and tombstones (18th-20th c.), stone sculptures, metal busts, reliefs and inscriptions, plaster busts.

9. Collection of Cultural & Historic Items includes:

Nobility jewelry, medals, guild-related items, seals and signet-rings, keys and locks, cups, batons.

10. The Museum Collection includes

documents on Museum's activity from its establishment until 1951.
