Ksenija Kalauz was born in 1939 in Livno. She completed primary and secondary school in Šibenik, and took a BA (art history) at the Faculty of Philosophy in Zadar. From 1965 she worked in Šibenik City Museum as curator of the Culture History Department, and from 1991 was manager of this department and deputy director of the museum.
During her many years of work in the museum, she founded several museum collections: the gallery collection of stone fragments; the collection of coats of arms, weapons, musical instruments, antique furniture. She carried out the inventorying of the whole of the material of the Culture History Department.
She prepared and set up some 70 independent exhibitions, and was associate for another 12. In collaboration with experts from the Regional Institute for the Conservation of Monuments of Culture of Split she initiated conservation operations to a large number of valuable paintings and sculptures. She also carried out independent research work. She carried out her researches in the interior of the Church of St Chrysogonus of the 13th century, at Fort St Anthony (Ante), in the old Rector’s and in the interior of St Gregory’s Church, a Gothic edifice. As part of research into St Anne’s Church and the Rector’s Palace she studied painted ceramics of the 15th to 18th centuries.
Out of the holdings of Šibenik City Museum she put on another 26 exhibitions of domestic and foreign artists. She took part in mounting the collection of ecclesiastical art in St Barbara’s and the collection of the Franciscan Monastery in Krapanj. She is the author of numerous catalogues, including: Radoslav Duhović, 1979; Horatio Fortezza, 1982; Sea, People, Coast, 1993; St Michael - Patron of Šibenik, 1997; Coats of arms of the Šižgorić Family; Seven Centuries of the See of Šibenik, and many others.
She often contributed articles to the Šibenski list and to the radio and television.
