It consists of photographs and postcards created between 1866 and the 1960s, with motifs of ships owned by Dubrovnik shipping companies and ships of other shipowners that sailed in the Dubrovnik waters. Apart from a few yachts and sailing ships, it is mostly steamships that are depicted, those owned by the big coastal line navigation companies, such as Dubrovnik Steam Shipping Navigation, Austrian Lloyd, Hungarian-Croatian Steam Shipping Company (Ungaro Croata), Dalmatia as well as Adriatic Navigation. The ships were built in foreign shipyards, like Trieste Lloyd, English, German, and Scottish yards; some were built in domestic yards in Gruž and Mali Lošinj. A total of 86 ships have been presented in detail, with over two hundred photographs and postcards. The oldest photograph, which shows the barque Gino, was taken sometime between 1866 and 1876. The author is Tomaso Burato, one of the best photographers in the history of Croatian photography. ►top The Meštrović Gallery – Catalogue of the Permanent Display Ivan Meštrović Museums (enlarged edition of the catalogue of the permanent display of the Meštrović Gallery from 2018) The Meštrović Gallery in Split is the former family villa and studio of Croatian sculptor Ivan Meštrović (1883 – 1962), which became a museum institution in 1952.
